This book was written by two white men (with libertarian streaks), in the 1970s, while they were employed at Playboy (a pornographic magazine). This work is very problematic by today's standards. While the authors likely thought their book was an attempt to combat colonialism, racism, sexism, etc... but, nearly 50 years later, parts of this work are outright offensive to the unprepared.
For the purposes of this novel, an aged piece of media, we'd like the reader to consider this policy blurb from Wizards of the Coast (the current publishers of Dungeons & Dragons) on older works:
Some older content may reflect ethnic, racial, and gender prejudice that were commonplace in American society at that time. These depictions were wrong then and are wrong today. This content is presented as it was originally created, because to do otherwise would be the same as claiming these prejudices never existed.
We've attempted to compile the most comprehensive list of content which may require warning.
