The Party of Nothingness was proposed in The Illuminatus! Trilogy by Sylvan Martiset. Martiset proposed it as a party rejecting the positions of both the Party of Science and the Party of Freedom. They were also called Nothingarians.
Lilith Velkor, who became the chief spokesperson for the party, led a band of men and women that gathered at the base of the great pyramid and laughed at it. They carried Nothingarian signs with sayings including:
- DON'T CLEAN OUR LENSES, GRUAD— GET THE CRACK OUT OF YOUR OWN
- EVERY TIME I HEAR THE WORD "PROGRESS" MY FUR BRISTLES
- THE SUN SUCKS
- FREEDOM DEFINED IS FREEDOM DENIED
- THE MESSAGE ON THIS SIGN IS A FLAT LIE
