The Bavarian Illuminati was or is an Enlightenment-era secret society founded on 1 May 1776 in Bavaria by Adam Weishaupt. The society is also called the Illuminati, and was an inspiration for the Illuminati of The Illuminatus! Trilogy.

Illuminatus! Illuminati

in The Illuminatus! Trilogy, the Illuminati is a secret conspiratorial organization that secretly controls the world. They are battled by the Discordians.

The first report in the book is from Pat in ILLUMINATI PROJECT: MEMO #1. The only "Pat" mentioned at that point is James Patrick Hennessy, but as the book says he is only mentioned once, the "Pat" is likely researcher Pat Walsh.
