Howard is a dolphin, and one of the earliest allies of Hagbard Celine to appear in the trilogy. He is a member of a delphian secret society.
It is via Howard that we know dolphin history is a purely oral tradition, relayed by epic poem and song, since dolphins have no written language ("delphine" is only spoken).
